El 12 de Agosto, celebramos la II Carrera en Kimya y Kasenda organizada por Kelele África y dedicada a la igualdad de género, revindicando los mismos derechos y oportunidades para todos. El año pasado participaron unos 30 corredores y en ésta han sido más de 150 personas entre 12 y 50 años y de 6 colegios diferentes.
Se dividió en dos etapas: una para los mas jóvenes entre 12 a 15 años, corriendo 4 Kms. y otra para más de 15 años que fue de 7.20 Kms.
La mañana comenzó con la entrega de dorsales a los 160 participantes.
La carrera comenzó en Kumwenya School saliendo primero los corredores de la etapa de 7.20Kms., y al poco tiempo los de la carrera de 4Kms.
Al final de la carrera estaban los niños de 1º y 2º de Primaria de Kumwenay school esperándoles entusiasmados para poner a cada uno de los participantes una medalla, y a su vez los profesores aplaudían y jaleaban a todos los corredores.
Mugume se hizo cargo de la música y Bosco fue el maestro de ceremonias animando con el micro. Nyakato ayudo en el reparto de bebidas, Mónica apuntado el orden de llegadas y haciendo fotos, Cristina con Donato en la moto siguiendo a los corredores y Antonio y Eli en el cruce de Kasenda para asegurarse que todos llegaban.
Vaya trabajo de EQUIPO. !!!!ENHORABUENA A LOS ORGANIZADORES!!!!!
Después de recuperar el aliento, hubo un meeting preparado por una alumna de 7º Primaria de Kasenda School, y que habló sobre los derechos de las mujeres/niñas y de la importancia de que ambos sexos tengan las mismas oportunidades. A continuación se repartieron folletos sobre lo que es igualdad de género y se abrió un coloquio impulsado por la pregunta “ y que puedes hacer tu?“, invitando a todos a participar aportando ideas y sugerencias por escrito, pues es la mejor forma de expresarse en libertad.
Más tarde se repartieron los premios a los ganadores de ambas etapas que fueron premios en metálico para los más de 15 años y camisetas y pantalones deportivos a los menores de 15 años.
La jornada terminó con un torneo de fútbol en el que participaron varios colegios de primaria y secundaria y los equipos de los distintos pueblos.
Desde España queremos agradecer a Cristina y a Mónica el gran esfuerzo por la magnífica organización y en poder llevar a cabo este evento tan importante para la comunidad, a Joanitah por su impecable organización logística y la colaboración de muchas más personas. Estamos encantadas por la aceptación y creciente participación que ha habido este verano. ¡¡¡BRAVO!!!
Pero más importante que los premios, es el despertar la conciencia, llevando la atención hacia la existente lacra que es la falta de igualdad para todos !!! Poco a poco, o como dicen allá:

II EDITION OF SOLIDARY RACE IN KELELE ÁFRICA
Yesterday, 12th of August, we celebrated the second Race in Kimya and Kasenda organized by Kelele África and dedicated to gender equality, claiming the same rights and opportunities for all. Although last year there were about 30 runners, yesterday more than 150 people participated between the ages of 12 and 50 years and from 6 different schools !!! There were two stages: one for the youngest (12 to 15 years) running 4 kilometers and another for those over 15 years who ran 7.20 kilometers.
The morning began with the delivery of bibs to the 160 participants
The race started with the older runners leaving a bit before the younger ones..
The reception on arrival at Kumwenya was wonderful: the 1st and 2nd grade children were waiting to give them medals, the teachers cheering and applauding, Mugume in charge of the music and Bosco cheering with the micro, Nyakato handing out drinks, Monica writing down the order of arrivals and doing potos, Cristina with Donato on the boda boda, following the runners and Antonio and Eli at the junction of Kasenda to make sure they all arrived. What a TEAM !!!! CONGRATULATIONS TO THE ORGANIZERS !!!
When everyone had arrived and recovered their breath, they sat down and listened to a 7th grader from Kasenda Primary talking about the rights of women / girls, about the importance of both sexes having the same opportunities. Then, a booklet was distributed explaining what is gender equality, and a colloquium was opened, prompted by the question «and what can you do?», Also inviting everyone to contribute ideas and suggestions in writing.
Then the prizes were distributed to the winners of both stages consisting of money prizes for the older ones and sports shirts and pants to those under 15.
The day ended with a football tournament in which several primary and secondary schools and teams from the villages participated.
From Spain we want to thank Cristina and Monica for their tremendous effort in organizing and carrying everything out, Joanitah for her impeccable logistical organization and also for collaboration of many more people. We are delighted by the acceptance and growing participation that has taken place this summer. BRAVO !!! The prizes the winners got are important but the objective is to raise awareness by bringing attention to the existing scourge that is the lack of equality for all !!! Little by little, or as they say there Mpola Mpola, Kateyto Kateyto¡¡.
